New Year!
Recent Time Spent
So I had a great Christmas! Mom got me a lot of stuff from Anthropologie which I couldn’t believe. Yah for Mom’s who know you!
But I’m mostly spending my time with a post-christmas gift I received, one of the only things I asked for (and I almost never ask for stuff!):
That’s right, Lego Harry Potter years 5-7. I do own the first 4 years, and completed 100% of the...

My favorite part is the landscape with the seasons changing (as her wardrobe does). Here is the behind the scenes video. A daunting amount of work!

One year ago today, this happened.
Lindsey got married and I was her flower girl. =)
This pic had special meaning for us, because of this photo shoot in October 2008:
Autobank
Leave it to an out-of-towner to show me something cool about the city I’ve lived in my whole life. Mr. Andrew Bloom was in from Chicago for a wedding in July. We spent some time hanging out and driving around the city, and he had me park near the old Rochester Savings Bank (now a Citizens bank). It’s architectural detail is unreal. Too bad it was a Sunday, I took a few pictures...
…I was at my High School grad party. Hating the attention, consuming many barrels of “little hugs”. And yes, I made those stupid jeans haha.

Lovin' Letterpress
Two months ago I started taking a Letterpress class at the Genesee Center for the Arts here in Rochester. This is an intro class so our projects are already outlined by our instructor, Mitch Cohen, who is a lot of fun to work with.
Our projects were mainly exercises for us to learn our way around a California job case, pre-press basics, and press operation.
I’ve walked away with two...

Skin Writing
Today I was diagnosed with Dermatographism, a skin disorder which literally means “skin writing”. I’m happy to finally find out why I’ve been so hyper-sensitive and often itchy. During some internet research, I found the artist Ariana Page Russell, who treats her own skin as her canvas, and will often use her own dermatographism as decoration. Different…but I’m...
Of Realism and Retro Objects
Wound up on Canadian painter Christopher Stott’s website tonight. I love super realistic paintings like these, and his subject matter is pretty fun. I kind of want the three fans to put together as a triptych.

I’ve NEVER been this happy with summer weather. I’m sort of a polar bear and cringe when I see temps over 79º. But I think our very long winter/spring sent me over the edge and now I’m readily embracing the heat. That said, I’m THIS close to putting the AC in my bedroom window…

One of them anyway…been feasting on Aretha these past few nights. I’d say the late 60s is when her voice and the current music stylings were in perfect sync. For me, not much else comes this close to perfection.

What I did in Washington DC, by Allie Schnurr
Actually I’m just going to post some of my favorite things I encountered.
I was surprisingly excited to see the Lincoln memorial. I think of all the well known monuments and memorials, Lincoln’s was the one I most wanted to see as a kid. The building itself was pretty cool too, I loved the ceiling.
I went to the National Zoo to finally see a real live Panda! They were behind...
